SUMMER '08 (with bad foot)
Oil on Canvas - 48 X 36"
This painting in various hues with white was the fourth in my "Rhythm and Hues" series. The tiles are pairs of alternating horizontal and vertical rectangles that allow for a variety of combinations suggesting other shapes depending on the surrounding and adjacent colors. The colors are placed according to chance which takes my "head" out of the process and tests my idea of a democracy of colors. In the middle of June I suffered a very bad fall which severely strained my right foot, ankle and knee. Recovery was very slow. Standing and painting was extremely painful and I will always associate the experience to the time of making the painting.
