Brown Deer ParkSince 1994 the formerly named Milwaukee Open has been played here as a summer stop on the PGA Tour.  It is an unusual venue for the Tour because this is a classic public course, designed by George Hansen, a Milwaukee greenskeeper.  Brown Deer has ranked consistently as one of the best public courses in America, but in the 50's the course was struck by destructive thunderstorms and was left in poor condition.  In the early 90's Andy North was brought in to supervise the installation of a new drainage system and redesign. With its hundreds of mature oaks, maples, an black walnuts, the character of the original course remained, but particularly some greens were reconstructed with much more slope. The rough is typically left high, thick and leafy, and with the winds from nearby Lake Michigan club selection can be a challenge. Players need to keep their golf balls in play to score well at Brown Deer.

Chas Demster has used his playing experience here and generously recreated the course for Links 2001 and it can be downloaded free from Links Corner.
